Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) is the framework which joins up the agencies who manage sex offenders. There are 4 responsible authorities who manage offenders under MAPPA guidelines:
The fundamental purpose of MAPPA is public safety and the reduction of serious harm.
MAPPA was introduced across Scotland in April 2007 and gave a consistent approach to the management of offenders across all local authority and police force areas. In Glasgow a Strategic Oversight Group is responsible for ensuring arrangements continually evolve to provide the public with the best management and assessment of risk posed by offenders.
